RIS and the impact to your business
It is important that industry members are aware of the impacts the new cost recovery system will have on their businesses.
SIV also encourages individuals, associations, businesses and co-operatives to use this opportunity to respond to the RIS. The more submissions received, the more the chance of making a change.
When responding to the RIS, consider,
- Is the level of services (i.e. research, compliance, administration) for your fishery appropriate?
- Does your fishery have any reasons for not paying the full amount proposed? Give clear examples
- Is the three year phase in period appropriate?
- Can you see any items that are not addressed in the RIS e.g. what happens if Fisheries Victoria fails to deliver a service promised and paid for?
All submissions should be sent to [email protected]

Code of practice
This Code has been developed by the Victorian Southern Rock Lobster Fishery, together with SeaNet and SIV, to outline best practice for the commercial sector. It brings together a range of legal requirements and voluntary measures and sits alongside legislation to further define and promote responsible management and to minimize environmental risks.
